This picture book by local Singaporean illustrator Patrick Yee tells of the challenging lives of the coolies in the early beginnings of Singapore’s history – the equivalent of our migrant labourers today. Learning about their lives will help children appreciate things that we tend to take for granted, like well-stocked supermarkets and behind the scenes logistic work.
